For seven centuries this was Qaziyon ki Haveli — the home and courtroom of Katha's judges, witness to justice, royal hunts, celebrations and the unhurried rhythm of village life. Lovingly restored by the family, it opens its three courtyards to travellers seeking something real.

A house that remembers every guest it has ever kept.

Shikwa is not a hotel. It is a family home — restored stone by stone, wall by painted wall — where the past is kept alive not behind glass but in the way you are welcomed.

13th–18th c. The Qazis

Qaziyon ki Haveli

Built as the home and courthouse of the Qazis — judges who dispensed justice on the old Delhi road.

The oldest and largest of Katha's noble houses — with court held here into the early 1900s.

A hundred arches The Arches

A house of mehrabs

Three courtyards, lounges and hundreds of arches — the mehrabs this haveli is known for.

Chhatris, stone jalis, jharokhas and fountains rise around the walled garden, Bagh-e-Bahisht.

1990s–2009 Revival

Restored over 13 years

Found in ruins, the haveli was rebuilt by the family arch by arch and reopened in 2009.

Every painted niche and carved door revived by hand, using the craft of the original build.

The family behind Shikwa

Hosted by the
Raza family

Descendants of the Qazis who once held court here, Shikwa is lovingly kept by Shariq Bin Raza, a former diplomat, and Dr. Alka Raza, a journalist. Their years abroad fill the lounges — Burma, Africa, Europe — with curios, paintings and heirlooms, so the haveli reads like a living museum you are welcome to wander.

Days here are unhurried and personal — a hi-tea of stories, home-cooked meals from ancestral recipes, and a genuine welcome into a family home rather than a hotel.
Giving back Shikwa supports local women through a handcraft and linen initiative, and keeps a quiet study space for the village's children.
